Dragnet Confused Pitchers: Brewers at Sox

by Cameron on May 16 at 5:32PM | comments (0)
Ladies and Gentlemen, you're long Red Sox National nightmare is over: tonight, the Sox are back on the field.

Wait, what's that you say? There's rain in the forecast? Crap.

dicekglove.pngWell, maybe it won't make a difference, since things seem to be headed for an on-time start to the Friday night tilt with visiting Milwaukee, a day after the Brewers signed Ryan Braun to an eight-year deal that's the largest in franchise history. You can almost still hear Bud Selig stammering and wingehing over that one a day later, can't you?

Regardless, Braun and his Brewers make their first visit to the Fens in, well, quite awhile tonight, sending old friend Jeff Suppan - he of the Freddie Sanchez trade - out there against Daisuke Matsuzaka, who the Herald was all too happy to typecast as schizophrenic in today's edition. Seems strange that a day after the paper ran a full front and back apology to the Patriots saying they're sorry, they'd come out and call another iconic Boston star schizophrenic, even though they've now changed that online headline to a double-decker. Makes you think.

Regardless, they make a decent point. Matsuzaka continues to struggle with walks, to the point that he's officially earned the reputation of being a "power-nibbler", i.e. a guy with ace speed who just doesn't throw the ball down the pike. And he doesn't.

And for those of you who might be interested in how the entire series shakes out on the mound ... here ... you ... go.

Of course, more significant to tonight's game is the return of manager Terry Francona, which means one very important thing: BRAD MILLS WON'T BE MANAGING!

That's right Sox fans, time to smile. The chance of your team winning just increased significantly. Now, let's just see if they can get this game in, ehhh?
