10-4, Good Buddy. Is South Carolina Below or Above Georgia?by Cameron on February 9 at 5:27PM | comments (0)
[ comments (0) ] [ BallHype ] That's right folks, you guessed it. Today is Truck Day! In fact, it has been since they started loading a 16-wheeler with spring training supplies on Yawkey Way this morning at 7:30. There's a nice photogallery of dude's picking stuff up and putting it in a truck on boston.com and, in all honesty, they've provided by far the most comprehensive coverage of the event. Unfortunately, the seasonal tradition kind of butts heads with the evolving Schilling shoulder story - we refuse to call it Shoulder-gate, though you can mentally prep yourself for that headline in the Herald sometime in the next week - which seems to be getting more and more nuanced and, dare we say, antagonistic by the day. ![]() But we'll have much more on that a bit later. For now, we thought it better to imagine what's going on inside that Atlas Truck on the highway down to Edison Avenue in Ft. Myers. The scheduled push off time from 2 Yawkey Way was 10 a.m., which means that they should be somewhere around D.C. or Virginia right about now. Not a horrible time to hit the beltway traffic, though some of the tunnels on 395 and 495 would be a complete pain in the ass with a huge truck in tow. So, what are Equipment Manager Joe Cochran and Assistant Equipment Manager (and former clubhouse attendant) Pookie Jackson talking about right now? JC: So, Pooks, where you feel like stoppin for dinnah? PJ: Not Burger King man, that was awful for lunch. Awful. JC: Whattabout Crackah Bahrel? PJ: That place feels a bit like some Old Confederate fort to me. I aint down with that. Try again. JC: Whattabout Denny's? PJ: Didn't you see that whole discrimination suit a couple years ago? It'll take us four hours. Try again. JC: Hey, whattabout that South of Tha Bordah place? PJ: Oh, with the Ferris Wheel and Fireworks and errything? That sounds nice man. I can dig that Pedro dude on the signs man. Lets' do that. JC: OK, only four more hours ... And the journey continues. |
